Welcome to PraireStar Farm

Located at the eastern edge of the "Great Prairie" this area was once the Pawnee Tribe's summer hunting grounds.

PraireStar Farm was purchased by Grandp Emil in 1910.  Little Pawnee Creek borders the original farm and still flows during a normal rainfall year.  Extreme drought will cause the creek to stop.

The original hand dug well is still in daily use.

Grandson Dave and Wife Judi now call it Home.

Originally built as a grainery for storing feed for the horses, sheep, chickens, and cows.  This building had a thatch roof made from Slough grass off the "north 40".  Now it functions as a guest house with a small ktichen and two bedrooms.

One product that PraireStar farm is developing is locally grown Honey.  From  start of 2 hives that yielded 180 lbs of premium honey in 2005, the bees now occupy 14 hives and the honey harvest for 2007 looks like it will be a good one. .

Other organic products will follow as time will allow.  Watch for new crops this year.

The winter of 2006 proved to be the coldest for several decades.  Beginning with an ice storm the deposited 6 inches of frozen sleet and following two snowfalls that totalled 16 inches the extreme cold did not allow a thaw until well into March of 2007.

The current house was built by Emil in 1962 after the farm house burned.  The original foundations were utilized in the new house.
